Circle Mirror Transformation
By Annie Baker
About the play…
Circle Mirror Transformation is a story about five strangers from the fictional town of Shirley, Vermont all taking a six week Creative Drama for Adults class at the local community center. Marty, the teacher, encourages them all to give their full effort as they go through tons of classic theatre games and learn more about each other. As class goes on, relationships start to form between characters and even break apart. It is a realistic piece, that I set in 2009, about human connection and trying to improve. In this production, it was really important to me that the audience could see themselves in the mirror to help make them feel like this was their story as well.
I directed this play at Texas Christian University and had incredible designers to help execute the vision! Scenic design: Jes Willis, Costume Design: Krystabelle Banda, Lighting Design: Kolby Ball, Pictures: Amy Peterson
